THE ROLE

STRIVE is working with a well-established and reputable company in search of a Heavy Duty Mechanic. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment, including earth-moving machinery, compaction equipment, aerial lifts, and forklifts.


This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills who enjoys working independently in a dynamic, field-based environment. While based out of Burlington, most of your time will be spent on the road responding to client service requests. We're looking for candidates with at least 5 years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty construction equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct inspections and perform routine maintenance on a wide range of construction equipment, including earth-moving machinery, compaction tools, aerial lifts (telehandlers, boom lifts, scissor lifts), and forklifts.
  • Troubleshoot issues and carry out necessary mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Test equipment post-repair to confirm proper functionality and safe operation.
  • Accurately complete all required maintenance records, service reports, and work orders in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, dispatch, and supervisors to ensure seamless service and support.
  • Follow all company health and safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of mechanical experience servicing a variety of heavy construction equipment
  • Hands-on experience in diagnosing equipment malfunctions and making required repairs is required
  • Hands-on experience working on earth-moving equipment, compaction equipment, and aerial lifts (telehandlers, boom lifts, scissor lifts)
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components
  • Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic/diagnostic software tools
  • Must have a complete set of tools or be actively working toward it
  • Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • Willing to work overtime and participate in an on-call rotation as required
  • Flexibility to manage and adapt to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
