THE ROLE
Our client is a growing and reputable food establishment based in Delta, BC, and on their behalf, we are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their maintenance team! This is a full-time, permanent position that offers great benefits and the opportunity to expand your experience!! This opportunity welcomes Maintenance Technicians wanting to acquire a Shift Engineer Class 5 or a Class 4 Power Engineer certification, with a strong Mechanical Engineering background or Millwrighting experience.
The position directly reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for providing a safe, comfortable operating environment by directing installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, tools, equipment, and utility systems.
The shift times of the position run from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, AND Tuesday to Saturday. Flexibility is required to work either schedule, depending on business needs.
From November to March (potentially longer), during the wintertime for 3-5 weeks, the Power Engineering/Maintenance team has a shift rotation schedule of days and nights to operate the wood boiler.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain, service, and repair equipment used throughout the facility. This includes locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Modifications to increase efficiencies, reduce labor, prolong equipment life, reduce operational cost, or address safety issues.

Assist the Chief Power Engineer in ensuring the uptime and safe operation of the wood boilers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production breakdowns.
- Clean and inspect equipment to minimize downtime and ensure the lowest operational cost.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Provide support and expertise for equipment installations.
- Perform field-level risk assessments before each task.
- Performing or assisting other trades or facility personnel on tasks that is not related to your individual trade as required.
- Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventories with the team. Checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies to ensure limited downtime.
- Use of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). Developing maintenance schedules for major and minor equipment as well as facility needs (PM’s).
- Plan, schedule, and execute work requests generated from the CMMS on a priority basis.
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or Millwright within a manufacturing environment.
- 5th or 4th Power Engineer certification is an asset.
- Strong mechanical and electrical background and experience carrying out maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

Experience working with wood burners and pumps is an asset.
- Flexible working schedule (on-call, rotating shifts at certain periods of the year).

COMPENSATION
- $40 to $47+ an hour, depending on experience
